ST MARY’S CHURCH
St Mary’s Church dates back to medieval times with stories of witchcraft and satanic rituals being rumored as the cause of the fire that decimated the church in 1977.
Spotted here are the ghostly monks from Tintern Abbey that used this church as a retreat, but worse, people have spotted sinister Shadow People that are believed to have been summoned by various occult groups performing incantations here.
Scientific Paranormal Investigations or the SPI for short have debunked many locations but back up the claims of shadow people, claiming St Marys has "A dark presence that seems to hide in the corner."
OUR EXPERIENCE
Being our first ever ghost hunt in Wales, we can’t say for sure whether it’s “the most haunted church in Wales”, but it sure does seem that way! (Though perhaps all Welsh churches are this haunted).
Before we even stepped through the front door we were hearing strange noises from about the graveyard, and upon entering the main clearing, we begun experiencing many strange phenomena.
Disembodied voices, footsteps, strange movement, and for Jake, even glowing eyes!
It appeared as though we had some kind of Interactive Personality haunting the rooms of this burned out church; so we set up a Static Camera in the main room and left it running while we explored the grounds.
On said static cams, we caught a lot of strange light spots moving around, possibly some kind of Orb, if you believe such things.
During our time here, whatever seemed to reside here seemed to effect Jake (some could say our resident medium-in-training). He seemed to be effected more than Penn and Baxter, so we decided to stick him in the Spirit Box and see what we could get.
This Spirit Box session appeared quite effective, not just at talking back to us but also in provoking spirits to manifest themselves - at one point hearing a disembodied voice clear as day speak next to Jake.
