RED LION PUB

One of Britain’s most haunted pubs. Built above an ancient well and sat within an ancient stone circle.

There are more than five ghosts which reside in the Red Lion pub.

The most active is Florrie, who was murdered by her husband. The story goes that Florrie was having an affair and when her husband found out, he was furious and strangled her.

Panicking, he threw her limp, lifeless body into the village well which is now a table inside the pub.

The ghost of Florrie has walked the corridors of The Avebury Red Lion Avebury ever since, and is said to have a particular hatred for men with beards as they remind her of her husband.
 

OUR EXPERIENCE

Well perhaps it was the flowing cider or the excitement of one of our friends Fergus joining us on this trip but we experienced nothing!

Still a fascinating place and the staff at the pub were more that helpful to tell us some of the stories and experiences in and around the pub.  - Big props to George the bartender!
