People from the local town died from smallpox and it was blamed on four ladies who were branded as witches, named the Hansel sisters. They were dragged to the woods and bludgeoned before being buried separately, from which large birch trees grew.
They are said to still haunt here, and people still travel to pay tribute to them and hang ‘clooties’ upon the branches.
An abandoned school house stands where a murder happened, with the victim still haunting the building. People have heard coughing, voices and loud marching sounds.
