HARTLEY MAUDITT

The abandoned village of Hartley Mauditt has sat empty for hundreds of years. No one knows why the village was abandoned and St Leanards Church a remaining building from the pre-18th century village, has gained notoriety for being haunted in recent years.

People have seen apparitions of the lady of the house and her coach and horses, pass close to the church.

OUR EXPERIENCE

When we first arrived there, it was just as the sun was setting. Hartley Mauditt sits in beautiful countryside and we took the oppotunity to take some golden hour photos and Baxter ate his packed lunch.



Going into this ghost hunt, we though this was going to be a dud location - it happens! (not every location can be haunted.) But as the sun set, the atmosphere surrounding the church changed quite abruptly.

We had a very successful Spitit Box session with Jake in the box. The name Paul kept coming up.

After the investigation we investigated this name and there was indeed a priest named Paul who visited the church.

He passed fairly recently however so we chose to omit this from the video out of respect for the family.



Towards the end of our time here, we took a moment to sit down and listen for sounds; letting our hearing adjust to the environment. Penn thought they saw a figure around the side of the church and got spooked. We left quite soon after.
