GROVELY WOOD EXPERIENCE

GROVELY WOOD

These woods have got everything! Cursed trees, an ancient roman road, spooky bunkers and even an abandoned haunted school!

People from the local town died from smallpox and it was blamed on four ladies who were branded as witches, named the Hansel sisters. They were dragged to the woods and bludgeoned before being buried separately, from which large birch trees grew. They are said to still haunt here, and people still travel to pay tribute to them and hang ‘clooties’ upon the branches.

An abandoned school house stands where a murder happened, with the victim still haunting the building. People have heard coughing, voices and loud marching sounds.

OUR EXPERIENCE

Our first visit to Grovely Wood, we happened to arrive on the worst weather this year - with dense fog and torrential rain, we were soaked and muddy before long. We made our way into the woods with very little idea of where we were going and before long we were a little lost.

Somehow we managed to stumble upon our first witch tree and got a bit spooked. - The tree was surrounded by dense wood and the tree itself was quite imposing. We conducted a short spirit box session, which yielded some interesting (but inconclusive) results.

And after around half an hour of walking along this road, we came across the next tree. This one was much more impressive. People had left offerings on the tree, and surrounding it, a large wooden circle.

We left an offering of a wicker ring, which Penn had brought with her, and lit a “summoning candle” from Etsy.

Conducting an EVP session here, Penn thought for a split second that she saw a figures face next to Jake.

The EVP session itself was a first for us, with what appears to be a voice, saying “Everyone Out”.

We had walked for quite far at this point and it was very early in the morning; so we decided to call it a night and head back, with the promise of returning to find the abandoned schoolhouse and bunkers.

We carried on walking until we made our way to the ancient Roman road. This helped orientate ourselved a little better and with the help of our trusty friend Google, we started walking toward where we knew another Hansel tree to be.

Along the Roman road, Jake and Baxter started hearing some strange noises and flashes of bright light. At this point the mist had become so thick, we couldn’t see a few metres ahead of ourselves. (This doesn’t make great footage.

So for next time - we found some coordinated of potential places for use to visit.
