FARLEIGH DOWN TUNNEL

This tunnel is the site of an old stone mine-turned ammunition tunnel during WW2.

People have reported hearing strange noises and seeing figures move in the dark.

OUR EXPERIENCE

We headed here half expecting the place to have been filled in and repurposed.

Upon finding it was still open - our first thought was about bumping into other people - the place has been vandalized on every available surface. After making sure the place was empty, we walked deeper into the tunnel.



About halfway into the ammunition shaft, Jake and Baxter heard a noise behind us. We stopped and listened as a group but heard nothing. Then, both Jake and Penn saw something move at the end of the tunnel.

Continuing further, we reached old carts used to push the ammunition along. Turning back, Penn heard a high-pitched noise further down the tunnel. After pausing for a half minute, the noise was heard again by the whole group.

This place spooked us for many reasons but we were glad to leave this place behind us as one of the scarier places we have been to.
