DONNINGTON CASTLE
Donnington castle was built in 1386 by Sir Richard Abbebury, and it is rumoured that both King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I stayed there. The castle served of great importance during the English Civil War. From July 1664, it withstood 20 months constant siege from parliamentarian forces until King Charles I himself repelled the attackers.
It's no surprise that a number of ghostly sightings have been reported there, including persistent reports of a white spectral dog and a guard keeping watch at the gatehouse to this day.
OUR EXPERIENCE
A local one for us! We had fairly good responses from the spirit box during questioning, however nothing conclusive. There was a slight uneasy feeling at times, but nothing unusual. Maybe that’s just because we’ve been coming here since we were kids.
