BROADMOOR WOODS EXPERIENCE

BROADMOOR WOODS

Next to Berkshire's Broadmoor Hospital, the oldest high-security psychiatric hospital in the UK, sits Broadmoor woods; a dense woodland with a plethora of ghostly stories over many years that has gained it a superstition for being haunted.

Notable ghost hotspots are that of the Devil's Highway - an ancient Roman road that runs parallel to the old hospital and Caesar's camp - an old iron age hillfort where people have heard many strange noises in recent years.

Turning our attention both online and to local books, we find one particular ghost remains consistent throughout almost all the stories surrounding these woods.A tall man, stooped in stature with a badly mutilated face. Throughout all the stories of him, he is mostly seen lurking from the bushes and watching those who visit the woods.

OUR EXPERIENCE

A deeply unsettling place; where the cries of inmates are heard throughout the night and echo through the dense thickets surrounding the old high security hospital.

These noises definitely set the tone for the evening, and upon entering the devils highway, begun to have a growing sense of fear.

Our first spirit box session we conducted by the reservoir where some young girls had seen the figure of a tall, deformed, “orge-like” being.

Most of the spirit box felt fairly anecdotal; though there were definite mentions of drowning - this could has just be listener bias.

Our next stop was Caesars Camp - and on the way we heard loud booming - almost firework-like, though much deeper reverberate though the trees. People are meant to be able to hear sounds of battle here and we have to admit this definitely ticks that box.

Unlikely to be gunshots in the UK.
Too deep for fireworks (and we couldnt see them).
No roads for car backfiring.
Rattled by the loud noises we had heard (and the fact we almost got locked in the car-park), we made our way to Caesars Camp on the opposite side of the woods, and got pulled over by the police for looking suspicious.

They let us go after realise we were just some nerdy ghost hunters and we made our way to the iron age fort.

There we conducted one of the best spirit boxes we have experienced to-date. Penn also thought they saw a figure through the trees that lines up with what the box was saying.

It appears as though we were talking to a spirit named Sam who had been killed by an axe, and got angry when insulted. He was warning us about some kind of figure in the bushes and claimed that there were 8 other spirits here.
